Excellence in Policing

Chief Administrative Officer

Hamilton Police Service

The third-largest city in Ontario, the City of Hamilton is a dynamic urban community with a diverse economy driven by a strong transportation infrastructure, internationally renowned educational institutions and hospitals, and a labour force with a strong work ethic.  Today, major urban centers like the City of Hamilton face many challenges as they seek to provide a livable and safe environment for their growing and increasingly diverse populations, with strained financial resources.  Within this context, the Hamilton Police Service is focused on delivering services that best meet the needs of the community.

With an increased emphasis on collaboration, strategic planning and accountability, the Hamilton Police Service is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) who will be responsible and accountable for the overall management and efficient operation of the Corporate Services Bureau.  Reporting to the Chief of Police, the CAO provides leadership, direction, and vision to the Finance Division, Human Resources Division, Computer Services Division, Fleet, and the Facilities & Supply Services Division, all of which assist and support the Hamilton Police Service in the delivery of effective and efficient police services to the citizens of Hamilton.

As an experienced leader with 15 years or more working in a large public/private sector organization, you have encouraged creative problem solving and led cultural change.  You have earned respect through your consistent commitment to excellence and accountability.  You possess a proven ability to lead strategic planning, human resources, relationship & change management, and particular strength in budgeting and financial management.  A Master’s degree in Business Administration or related professional qualification is preferred.  Experience working with or within a union environment and/or collective bargaining experience will be considered a strong asset.

To be considered for this position, please submit your cover letter, resume and related information in confidence to Amanda.Bugatto@odgersberndtson.com or online by December 1, 2017 at http://www.odgersberndtson.com/en/careers/14314

The Hamilton Police Service is an equal opportunity employer. In accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, upon request, accommodation will be provided by both Odgers Berndtson and the Hamilton Police Service throughout the recruitment, selection and/or assessment process to applicants with disabilities.
